The challenge

For more than a decade, The Hydrous has used technology and interactive storytelling to connect people with ocean environments. They needed a website that felt as cutting-edge as the immersive experiences they create.

The design needed to feel trustworthy, strong, and polished, and urgent enough to make people stop and look. Bold ocean photography leads the experience, paired with a confident editorial layout that gives the content weight and clarity.

A laptop displaying a webpage about making the ocean accessible to everyone, placed on a textured, white surface against a plain wall background.
Two digital informational displays about ocean exploration and conservation. The first screen highlights underwater and coral images with text about virtual dives and immersive worlds. The second screen discusses making the ocean accessible through historical and scientific efforts, including underwater photography and digital models.
Person holding a tablet displaying a diving experience advertisement with a shark and blue tones.
Screen displaying a section titled 'Media & Research' with a horizontal carousel of research projects related to ocean exploration and marine biology, including images of divers, sea creatures, and underwater scenes.

Website Design + development

We crafted a one-page single scroll website. It begins with their core belief that if they can't take everyone to the ocean, they can bring the ocean to everyone, then moves through their science-based experiences exploring coral reefs, kelp forests, and the open ocean, and ends with their next generation of digital experiences.
